Prepare for Photo Shoot
The following is a list of suggestions on preparing a home to be photographed:
Typically the main living areas are photographed for the tour. This may include the kitchen, family room, living room, dining room, master bedroom etc. Small bedrooms and bathrooms may be included in the still photos but are typically too small for the 360º scenes.
-
Find out which days are trash days and try to avoid scheduling on trash day. The neighborhood is much prettier without trash cans lined up on the sidewalks.
-
Please don't schedule the tour to be filmed while work is being done at the property. This includes lawn services, pool service, maid service, painters etc.
-
Kitchen should be clear of dirty dishes and counters cleared of clutter. You want to show off that counter space! Store items such as toasters, crock pots, utensil stands etc in a cabinet or pantry.
-
Large knick-knacks or vases of flowers should not be placed on kitchen islands, they block the view of the kitchen and make them appear much smaller.
-
Place pet dishes, trash cans etc in a room which won't be photographed (laundry room, garage or pantry for example)
-
Remove children's toys, playpens, highchairs. These items take up space and make the rooms appear smaller. Less is better!
-
Take a look at each area and visualize the room as-is in a photo for your flyer/brochure and on the internet.
If there are specific areas/features of the home you want included in the 360º scenes or still photos, please be sure to mention them.
